Christmas Angel Craft

Supplies: 3 coffee filters 3-1/2-inch Styrofoam cone 1  toothpick 1-inch foam Styrofoam ball 12 inches of 1/4-inch-wide gold ribbon White thread; hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks 1 gold plastic ring Directions: Center one coffee filter on the top of the cone. Push the toothpick three quarters of the way into the cone and filter. Push the 1-inch ball onto the toothpick to add the head. Center the second filter over the head. Tie a ribbon bow around the neck. Fold the third filter in half and pleat at the center to form wings. Tie in the center with thread. Hot-glue…

Zoe the Zombie Series.

This is really not my style of artwork, but I have had many mixed media artists bring up to me that I never do anything "zombie-ish" or "creepy"...so I broke out of my shell today and this is what I have come up with.  While this is not my usual style of artwork, it was certainly fun to play with.  I may find that I want to make more of these for a Halloween series.  Stay tuned!

Happy Fourth of July 2014

The 4th has always been one of my favorite holidays. I have many fond memories of 4th's past shooting firecrackers with my father, and then, as I became a teenager, the bigger, and more fun fireworks, with my (now) ex boyfriend and his brother. This year was no exception for me in the department of shooting fireworks. Real Eggs vs. Plastic (dyeable) Eggs

My mother bought three dozen of these new plastic crafting eggs, which are dyeable, this year for Easter.  I'm not sure if any of you who are reading this have tried these, but I really wasn't all that much impressed. Problem #1:  With the real eggs you are supposed to add the dye tablets to vinegar and water, which is  enough liquid to submerge the egg completely (in a coffee cup).  With the plastic dyeables you use one tablet (tiny) to a mere 4 teaspoons of vinegar and no water.  This was just a pain.  Hunter got so frustrated with…

Happy Easter 2014!

In honor of the upcoming Easter holiday, I wanted to write a post to wish all of my family, friends, and visitors to this page a joyous holiday.  Easter has always been one of my favorite, and most fun, holidays, especially now that I have children of my own.
